When I see an app like TheScore for iPad, it forces me to think in big-picture terms, as in: this is how sports news was meant to be consumed. Not in some day-old newspaper or tiny iPhone app, but on a big, beautiful screen jam-packed with scores, standings, videos, and blogs.In other words, I'm really digging TheScore--and I'm not even that into sports. The NCAA basketball season will be starting shortly and here is a quick look at my preseason top 5. 1. North Carolina- The Tarheels had one key loss in Brandon Wright, who declared early for the draft. They still have Tyler Hansbrough back for his junior year. He averaged 18 points and 8 boards as a sophomore and was the MVP of the team. They also return point guard Ty Lawson and shooting guard Wayne Ellington. Connecticut is trying to break the all-time record for most consecutive wins in women's college basketball as they take on Notre Dame in the Big East Tournament semi-finals tonight. That game is scheduled for 3 p.m. PST (6 p.m. EST) on ESPNU, so not everyone will get to see their attempt at history. Of all the major American spectator sports, listing the champions of Division 1 college football is by far the most head-scratching. In the 138 year-history of collegiate pigskin, 346 different teams have claimed part or all of a "National Title". Chris Bosh signs with the Los Angeles Lakers: I've heard this situation before because Chris Bosh was at a Lakers game, because Toronto is so warm and fun there's no other reason he would go to Hollywood in the off-season, right? Well Let's say they did a sign and trade Bosh for Bynum and a first round pick. Bosh and Gasol would be the best big-man tandem since Duncan-Robinson.
