What To Look For in the 2010-2011 College Football Season

The 2010 NCAA football season is just around the corner, and during the offseason, there have been many changes to the faces of some of the teams. New coaches have stepped into different roles, and many coaches are going to experience their first college football coaching experience this year. Many questions have been asked, such as, With Tim Tebow gone, how with the Florida Gators fare this season? Tim Tebow had a terrific collegiate career, and it came to an end when he got drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round. Something of Tim Tebow is still left behind. It's actually a ban … [Read more...]

iPad app Must-have for sports junkies

When I see an app like TheScore for iPad, it forces me to think in big-picture terms, as in: this is how sports news was meant to be consumed. Not in some day-old newspaper or tiny iPhone app, but on a big, beautiful screen jam-packed with scores, standings, videos, and blogs. In other words, I'm really digging TheScore--and I'm not even that into sports. It says clearly on my Tech Nerds of America membership card that sports are permissible only as a "passing interest" or for "social interaction research."Actually, I do consume a lot of college basketball, which is just one of the dozen-plus major … [Read more...]

Kentucky Vs West Virginia Live Streaming Men’s basketball NCAA 2010 « Hot News And Celeb Update

West Virginia couldn’t care less playing without foot-injured,  starting point guard Darryl “Truck” Bryant over Washington on Thursday.  But they just might start missing him for this game.  The Mountaineers committed an uncharacteristic 23 turnovers with different players now handling the ball.  Da’Sean Butler, Kevin Jones, and Devin Ebanks make up a powerful three-piece of forwards for West Virginia.  WVU is second in the nation in offensive rebounding, slammed Washington on boards and is 25-3 this year when outrebounding its opponent. The Wildcats has two dependable guards in John … [Read more...]

College media censorship and blackouts

College media censorship has a lot in common with Mystique. The mutant supervillain associated with the X-Men is best known for her duplicitous shape-shifting aimed at doing harm. Over the past academic year, a Censor supervillain similarly known for adopting many identities and tactics has attempted to stomp out student press expression nationwide. The censorious shape-shifter has morphed into various administrators, university presidents, football coaches, campus police, politicians, and even college journalists' undergraduate peers. Their harmful activity includes student journalism theft, … [Read more...]

NCAA basketball season top 5

College_Basketball

The NCAA basketball season will be starting shortly and here is a quick look at my preseason top 5. 1. North Carolina- The Tarheels had one key loss in Brandon Wright, who declared early for the draft. They still have Tyler Hansbrough back for his junior year. He averaged 18 points and 8 boards as a sophomore and was the MVP of the team. They also return point guard Ty Lawson and shooting guard Wayne Ellington. The two sophomores should give the tarheels one of the top guard combinations in the nation. North Carolina has to be the favorite to cut down the nets in March. 2. Memphis- The Tigers … [Read more...]

Connecticut vs. Notre Dame women’s basketball

College_Basketball

The Connecticut vs. Notre Dame women's basketball game Monday could make history. Connecticut is trying to break the all-time record for most consecutive wins in women's college basketball as they take on Notre Dame in the Big East Tournament semi-finals tonight. That game is scheduled for 3 p.m. PST (6 p.m. EST) on ESPNU, so not everyone will get to see their attempt at history. This isn't the first time that a Connecticut women's basketball team has been able to win 70 in a row either, as they set the last record of 70 straight wins between the 2001 and 2003 seasons, which was ended by Villanova … [Read more...]

The champions of Division 1 college football

College Football

Of all the major American spectator sports, listing the champions of Division 1 college football is by far the most head-scratching. In the 138 year-history of collegiate pigskin, 346 different teams have claimed part or all of a "National Title". This is because, unlike the NFL with its Superbowl or college basketball with its NCAA Tournament, there has never been a definitive way of crowning college football's champion. Even the current BCS system -- which generally pits the two best teams against each other -- has already produced one split championship in its short ten-year history. But … [Read more...]

Chris Bosh signs with the Los Angeles Lakers: I've heard this situation before because Chris Bosh was at a Lakers game, because Toronto is so warm and fun there's no other reason he would go to Hollywood in the off-season, right? Well Let's say they did a sign and trade Bosh for Bynum and a first round pick. Bosh and Gasol would be the best big-man tandem since Duncan-Robinson. Maybe even better, because Bosh and Pau are both in their prime. I'd bet the farm on this team to win in '11 and '12 barring injury. Why it wouldn't happen: L.A. probably doesn't have the cap room and they wouldn't … [Read more...]
